About PlantSea

PlantSea is an award-winning materials innovation company creating seaweed-based alternatives to plastics for use in everyday products. Our proprietary biopolymer technology provides biodegradable, water-soluble solutions for single-dosing applications such as laundry and dishwasher capsules, with future expansion planned into agri, cosmetics, and food packaging.

We are entering our commercialisation phase, with a strong customer pipeline, signed letters of intent, and the backing of a committed investor base. This is a pivotal moment, moving from first commercial rolls to scale-up, and marketing has a central part to play in getting us there.

PlantSea’s culture is open, fast-moving, inventive, and supportive. We value communication, shared accountability, and creative problem-solving across all levels, and we are driven by a shared passion for sustainability and tangible environmental impact.

Role Overview

PlantSea is looking for a creative Marketing Manager to lead and own our marketing function as we move from first commercial rolls to scale-up.

This is a leadership role with a hands-on creative streak. You will set direction and drive campaigns, but you will also roll your sleeves up: designing in Canva, shooting photography and video, and making things that look and feel brilliant. You will coordinate freelancers for specialist work, so the right skills are on each job, while personally setting the creative bar. As the business grows, so will the marketing team.

You will work directly with the CEO and the commercial and technical teams, translating our marketing strategy into consistent, high-quality activity. We know exactly where we are going. We need someone to own how we get the message there, and to make it land.

What You Will Own

Creative and Campaigns

  • Drive marketing campaigns from idea to delivery, and own the results
  • Design brand and marketing assets in Canva to a high standard
  • Capture photography and video that bring the product, the science and the team to life
  • Set and hold the creative bar across everything we put out

Strategy and Leadership

  • Lead the marketing function and deliver against our 2026 marketing strategy
  • Coordinate the internal team across comms, events and PR
  • Build and manage a trusted freelance roster for specialist delivery
  • Set priorities, keep momentum, and report on what is working and what to stop

Story and Content

  • Run our two core narratives: a brand and consumer story that creates demand, and a manufacturer story that eases supply
  • Build the case-study engine, capturing every pilot and launch as a documented story
  • Lead authentically on real science, real founders and real seaweed, with no greenwashing
  • Position our yellow film as a strength for eco-brands while managing the perception barrier with larger FMCGs

Channels and Demand

  • Own our PR programme, our biggest driver of enquiries, working with trade press and our PR support
  • Lead LinkedIn and wider social, building toward 50,000 impressions a month by end 2026
  • Oversee the new SEO-led website and our segmented monthly newsletter
  • Support events and conference presence, from ChemUK and SEPAWA to PLMA and European Bioplastics
  • Produce educational content on PVOH, regulation and why seaweed

Measurement

  • Track qualified inbound, share of voice and brand awareness in target segments
  • Use Pipedrive, Mailchimp and Microsoft Forms to manage activity and pull insight
  • Report quarterly on performance, ROI and priorities

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • An exceptional communicator, in writing and in person, able to make technical material clear and compelling
  • Genuinely creative, with a strong eye and a portfolio that proves it
  • Hands-on design skills in Canva
  • Photography and video skills, comfortable shooting and editing your own content
  • A track record of driving campaigns and owning results
  • Confident managing multiple channels and setting priorities across them
  • Experience briefing and managing freelancers or agencies
  • Self-starting, organised and able to lead with minimal supervision

Desirable

  • Experience in sustainability, which matters to us, especially for how we handle language and claims
  • Science or technical communication, translating complex material for non-expert audiences
  • B2B and FMCG marketing, the world our customers and pipeline live in
  • Investor and corporate comms, useful as we grow and gear up for our next stage

Why Join PlantSea

  • Lead marketing at a company creating a genuinely new category
  • Real ownership and a direct line to the founders
  • Purpose-led work with tangible environmental impact
  • The chance to shape how a science-led story reaches the world
